Palenque Settlement
We will visit Palenque which was the first freed slave settlement in the Americas. The history of Palenque was not in most history books, but here you will see this wonderful unique African influenced tradition that blends the sounds of the beating drums, singing and dancing in a mesmerizing display of artistry. Here you will see many women in their traditional brightly colored outfits heading to sell their fresh fruits. The fruits from this region are known as some of the sweetest anywhere.

What's Panafest?
Panafest is cultural celebration that is dedicated to the Pan-African movement. Panafest celebrates the strength and resilience of the African culture and their many achievements. It is a biennial festival of art and culture attended by people of African descent who gather in Ghana from all over the Diaspora to celebrate, and rejoice with music, and arts of the African experience.
The festival has become a landmark festival in Ghana, and it will surely leave you with a lasting and unforgettable impression from Ghana. You will see and experience some of the atrocities of the transatlantic slave trade, and learn of the history of Ghana involvement in what was a critical historical period in Africa.
This tour will take you to visit many areas in Accra which is the capital of Ghana. We will visit the city of Kumasi, the Asante Empire and surrounding villages.
We will travel to Cape Coast and Elmina where you will walk into the actual slave dungeons. You will visit the Slave River known as Donor Nsuo where the enslaved took their last bath before a 3 week naked trek through the dense forest to the ships which took them away from their homes.
